Vision Statement
The Bennett School Media Center (BSMC) strives to be an integral component of Bennett School’s educational system. It represents the primary information base of the instructional program. The BSMC provides a broad range of educational, informational, and recreational reading resources in order to support the curriculum and create students who are effective users of ideas and information, competent and enthusiastic readers, independent learners, and positive contributors to the school community and to society.
Philosophy
I believe that the school library media coordinator (SLMC) is an integral part of a school’s educational program, providing leadership, collaboration and service to all stakeholders. The SLMC supports the concepts of intellectual freedom and information access to students as they prepare for life-long learning, informed decision-making, and the ethical and safe use of technologies. The SLMC models learning as an ongoing process and continually works to keep abreast of the newest technologies and best practices in education and librarianship. The SLMC reflects on building an effective library program that provides a variety of resources to fulfill the needs and interests of diverse learners who are preparing to be successful citizens of a 21st Century global community.
